The deer skin and elk hides we use are the finest quality available.  We've been purchasing them from the same wholesaler for a number of years and over time a relationship has developed.  They know what we require to provide you with the garment you expect.  It has to have a quality about it that makes you think "it feels like butter".  Many of our customers have stated just that.   As with any leather, some are just plain better for certain applications.  In the past, we have used the best garment cowhide available, but the feel just isn't the same as deer skin.  Deer skin has the unique characteristic of molding to your body and feeling warm or cool, when you want it to be.  This just isn't true of other leathers.  Appearance and comfort are given as the primary reasons most people prefer to wear deer skin. When a heavier garment is desired elk skin is a very good choice.  It has a similar feel and flexibility to deer skin.  Jackets or men's vests are typically made of  it.
