Interesting Facts
The average deer skin measures between 9 and 11 square feet. If you compare this to cow hide averaging 40 to 45 square feet it is understandable why products made of deer skin require more work and the use of more hides for a good sized product. It is virtually impossible to cut a vest, jacket or pair of chaps from a single deer hide. The reason most people prefer a deer skin garment is in touching it. There is a soft and supple feel to it that no other leather can match. It also has an unusual feature of being warmer or cooler when you want it to be. It actually breathes better than other leathers. An example of this would be your favorite pair of deer skin gloves.

Deer skin may also be washed but please don't try this with cow hide. It doesn't work. The following instructions have helped many people clean a deer skin product purchased from us.
Cleaning Instructions
Hand wash with Woolite or mild soap in cool water. Rinse well. A little fabric softener can be used. Then squeeze, do not twist, to remove excess water. Let air dry.
Machine wash on delicate cycle with woolite or mild soap. Do not add bleach or put with colors that might bleed. Put in a dryer on air cycle with a pair of old sneakers (preferably clean ones).
Washing of tops isn't recommended when they have more than one color deerskin because colors might bleed.

Spot cleaning is also something that can be done if necessary by using a little water, a spot mild soap, and rubbing gently. Let the garment air dry. Try to refrain from touching it until it dries completely.
